He has many years’ experience in the housing and welfare benefits field, having worked in central and local government. 

For seven years, he was residential services manager for Watford Mencap, after which he took over the organisation’s advice service. He offers training to the voluntary sector, primarily around learning disabilities, employment law and benefits. He has been an advisor for Housing Options since 2000 and also works with Hertfordshire County Council's Money Advice Unit. 

Andrew can offer workshops, individual consultation and advice on benefits.

He has expertise in the full range of welfare benefits, specifically:

  • housing benefit/ local housing allowance
  • disability living allowance/ personal independence payments
  • income support/ universal credit
  • incapacity benefit/ employment support allowance
  • support for mortgage interest
  • charging for services by local authorities.
