Jayne Knight

This page tells you about Jayne Knight, an Associate Advisor on the H&SA team. Jayne was one of the founding members of Housing Options in 1996 and has been highly involved in their work since then. She started her career working as a specialist in welfare benefits in the Civil Service and then worked for a large Local Authority as their Principal Welfare Rights Advisor. She then worked as a Chief Officer in the same Local Authority taking the lead for the Housing, Social Services and NHS joint working.

Jayne has been the Chief Executive of one of the leading supported living organisations, Ling Trust, for 21 years. She has provided extensive consultancy to Local Authorities, NHS. Housing Associations, Families, People with disabilities, Valuing People Task Force and was an Associate Consultant also with Paradigm, an organisation she helped to start. She has written housing strategies for Local Authorities for people with learning disabilities and has the ability to link this in with overall housing development.

Jayne is now the Managing Director of a Community Interest Company, My Great Life which aims to provide housing, brokerage services and alternative respite breaks for people with disabilities.

Jayne has wide experience in generic management of a whole range of statutory and voluntary services. She is experienced in troubleshooting problems. She is regularly used by individuals and organisations to facilitate and work through ideas for creative development. She can help with:

  • Setting up and running high quality small supported housing services;
  • Helping register small housing organisations as a Registered Provider with the HCA;
  • Registering an organisation as a community interest company, and working out if this is the most appropriate course of action; Micro enterprises;
  • Tenant housing law training courses for people with learning disabilities;
  • Inductions for Carers working in tenanted homes of people with learning disabilities;
  • Advice and support for people with a whole range of support and housing needs, including innovative and resourceful solutions. This includes people with complex support needs; and
  • Personal brokerage services, housing options and support, from one-offs to inclusive services, including help with financial management, staff management and payroll.
