H&SA Housing Special Interest Group

Special Interest Housing Group September notes:

We held the first meeting of the Special Interest Housing Group in September. It was a helpful session, focusing on information sharing and problem solving as a peer group. We have attached a summary of the topics covered along with the key points of interest. If anyone would like to find out more about the discussions, please contact Steve Harris, 07970308718 or steve.harris@housingandsupport.org.uk

Special Interest Housing Group January agenda:

The second meeting was held at the end of January. 22 housing providers attended and discussed the following issues as set by the Group:

Update on the DWPs work on the future of Exempt Accommodation, Housing Benefit and Universal Credit

Pros and Cons of registering with Homes and Communities Agency as A Registered Provide

Good practice Housing Specification examples

Good practice examples and legal duties managing Legionella risk

Landlord obligations in relation to Fire Safety and Houses in Multiple Occupation

It was a very constructive session, with good opportunities for information sharing, learning and peer support.
The group are keen to keep the momentum going. The agenda has yet to be finalised, however it will include the latest on the emerging exempt accommodation situation, feedback on the commissioners and housing broker special interest groups and anything else existing and (hopefully) new members would like to focus on
